Water is essential to all forms of life on Earth. Over time, however excessive use, waste and contamination have put the world's fresh water supply at serious risk. As individuals and as a global community we must act to curb excessive water use and preserve this life-sustaining resource for generations to come.
By harvesting rainwater within a property we reduce the reliance upon the local aquifer. There are many rainwater-harvesting systems available to us today. When designing a landscape we should consider how rainwater is managed. Storm water management is also an important component when designing the landscape. Heavy rainfall can cause damage, flooding and displacement of plants and soil. Rainwater Gardens can manipulate the flow of water reducing its energy and help release it through the ground recharging the groundwater.
